Babe: The Sheep Pig
This is a tale of high adventure in the farmyard, humble beginnings and courageous triumphs. This is the story of one piglet's rise to become the world famous 'sheep pig'. When Babe is won by Farmer Hogget at the village fair an extraordinary friendship begins, one that will change the whole farm. With the help of his new 'mother', the old dog Fly, Babe fast learns the herding instinct, and it's not long before this most polite of pigs wins over the most suspicious of sheep. When the day of the Grand Challenge Sheep-dog Trials dawns, the whole farm holds its breath to see whether Babe will triumph, against all odds, to become the hero of the hour. The 1995 film of the same name was nominated for seven Academy awards and its stage adaption by David Wood brings all the delight of this story to the stage. For us at Purpose Players, it truly is the year of the pig!
Patrick's Everyday Warriors
All of the ticket sales from our 2019 production of Babe: The Sheep Pig will benefit Patrick's Everyday Warriors. Patrick’s Everyday Warriors strives to bring awareness to effects of pediatric cancer on the families and specifically the siblings. They provide emotional support for siblings and help siblings better communicate with their parents, the medical staff and even in their own thoughts. They acknowledge the siblings as warriors through special events, family outings, and warrior chests. When the journey is “over” we help the siblings (and families) be okay with “what’s next” whether or not the families goes home with their sick child through support groups, grief recovery, and events to connect families and siblings.
