The Purpose Players proudly present: BE IN A MOVIE! ACTING CAMP open to grades K-12. Campers will reach for the stars as they experience life on set as a movie actor, gain instruction from award-winning filmmakers, and walk the red carpet at the premiere with all of their adoring fans. This camp will serve as a fundraiser for Purpose Players. Each Summer, a fundraiser is held to raise proceeds for our end of the year production. Because all of our ticket sales go to charity, we are dependent upon sponsors, donations, and fundraisers like these to make our productions a reality.

During their stay, campers will learn the ins and outs of screen acting, filmmaking basics, and the opportunity to try their hand at a variety of film set occupations.

Campers will star in the film, School Work: Aliens Attack!!. It is a hilarious science-fiction film that takes place in a school. Lack of government funding means that schools are closing and being turned into factories. Students are being forced to work in these factories making an unidentifiable object and the slave-driving overlords are extraterrestrials!

Special guests of the film industry will make a surprise appearance over the course of the week. Those guests will be announced via email on May 22nd.

The camp will run from July 27th - August 1st, 2020 at Centennial Blackbox Theater (211 27th Ave N., Nashville, Tennessee 37203) with a screening of the finished film in front of an audience on June 27th also at Centennial Blackbox Theater.

Times for this camp will vary. Please see the schedule below for a full list of camp times.

To officially reserve a spot, the camp registration form must be filled out AND a $20.00 registration fee must be paid in full through our event page ON or BEFORE May 22nd, 2020. After May 22nd, we will leave registration open until June 8th, but a $10.00 late fee will apply.

Beginning May 22nd, campers will receive, via email, a video explaining every detail of the camp, their screenplay, camp schedule, terms of agreement, and call sheet.

To be placed in a designated role, campers will send an audition video reading from a few different scenes of the script. One of our camp acting coaches, Leslie Marberry, will explain in video how to properly do this. She will also explain other things necessary to know about auditioning for film.  Audition videos are due June 8th. All campers will receive a part.

The fee for this camp is $90.00 per camper and is also due on June 8th. Family rates are available upon request.

Water will be provided, but we request for campers to pack a snack. Vending machines will be accessible if you instead prefer to send your camper with vending machine money.

Please Note: We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation very closely and following instruction from the CDC. If certain circumstances present themselves, our 2020 events will either be moved to a new date or cancelled entirely. Either way, full refund is an option.
